To help you make the most of your Beach Yoga experience, especially if you're new to it, we've put together some helpful tips for you.

Warm Weather Tips for Beach Yoga

  • Prepare for the Heat: Beach Yoga during warmer months means you should be ready for potential heat. We recommend eating a light snack before your session – it's o fun practicing on an empty stomach.

  • Stay Hydrated: Bring plenty of cold water with you. Freezing your water the night before can be quite refreshing.

  • Sun Protection: Even during the early morning, it's essential to wear sunscreen. Consider using face sunscreen to avoid it getting in your eyes, and don't forget to wear a hat.

  • Light Clothing: Dark yoga pants can get hot on the beach. We recommend light-colored capri yoga pants, yoga shorts, or even your bathing suit.

  • Swimsuit: Don't forget to bring your swimsuit. It's a lovely option to take a dip in the water before, during, or after your practice.

  • Visit the Restroom: Public restrooms can be scarce at the beach, so plan ahead.

Cooler Weather Tips

  • Prepare for the Chill & Bring Layers: Beach Yoga during cooler months might bring a chill in the air. Just keep in mind that the beach is usually 10 degrees cooler than inland, especially with wind. Bring cozy layers that you can put on if the weather turns chilly. Think hats, socks, hoodies, and sweats – whatever makes you comfortable.

  • Eat a Snack: As always, we recommend eating a light snack before your session to keep your energy up.

  • Stay Hydrated: Don't forget to bring water with you..

  • Savasana Snuggles: Consider bringing an extra blanket or towel to get all snuggly during Savasana on the beach.

  • Visit the Restroom: Just as in warm weather, public restrooms may not be readily available, so plan accordingly.

  • Cost: At our heart, we believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone and we understand that financial circumstances can vary. Many of our students inquire about a recommended donation, and while we don't want to impose a specific amount, if you are able we kindly suggest a range of $10-$20.

Cost

At our heart, we believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone and we understand that financial circumstances can vary. Many of our students inquire about a recommended donation, and while we don't want to impose a specific amount, if you are able we kindly suggest a range of $10-$20.

Parking

Free parking is available on most streets at Folly Beach. At Charleston Harbor Resort, go through the gate and grab a parking pass from your instructor. At Isle Of Palms, there's free parking across from the boat house.

Set-Up

Mats can be tricky on the sand, so we recommend using a super-size beach towel, or both a large towel and your mat for added stability, especially on soft sand. Tapestries, Mexican blankets, or a sheet can also work. Avoid using a black mat in the summer, as it can get very hot.

Leave Your Worries Behind

Most importantly, leave your worries, troubles, and to-do lists behind. Connect with the beautiful surroundings, breathe in the salt air, and connect with the ocean and fellow souls around you.
